Choirs
The Westside Children’s Choir is made
up of two separate choirs: The Westside Junior Choir and the Westside Senior Children's Choir.
Weekly rehearsals are on Thursday evenings at
Scarboro United Church, 134 Scarboro Avenue in Southwest Calgary. There are also
two workshops, each held on a Saturday.
The choirs are self-sufficient, funded by fees
alone and requiring no fundraising activities or volunteer
commitments by parents or singers. Financial assistance is
available upon request with no child denied membership because
of a family’s inability to pay the fee.
The Westside
Junior Children’s Choir, whose members are in grades 2, 3, and 4, rehearses on Thursday evenings in the Social Room at Scarboro United Church from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The choir is directed by Heather Nail and accompanied by Carolyn McLeod-Metz.
Fees are $140.00 for the first term (September through December) and $140.00 for the second term (January to mid-May).
The Senior Choir, for singers in grades 5 to 12, meets in the Gym at Scarboro Church from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings. The choir is directed by Jean Czaja and accompanied by Beverly Monro. Bernice Gaetz is the administrative assistant and works with individual sections of the Senior Choir. Gail Danysk is the choralography director for both choirs.
Fees are $175.00 for the first term
(September through December) and $175.00 for the second term
(January to mid-May).
